If you think something's holding you back from pursuing a fun and fulfilling sales career, you're probably right! At least that's been my experience. Over the years I've learned that it's my own limiting beliefs that create situations that hold me back. I'm sure you're familiar with the saying it's all in your head.Well, I think that might be exactly right. If you want to change your behavior you first have to change the way you believe.
To have a limiting belief means to restrict or confine an opinion or a conviction about something. For me this shows up in the vision I have for myself of my work of others or about situations that I have situations that suggest I can't do something. But when you face up to your limiting beliefs, you can right size them and stop recreating the mental catastrophes that prevent you from becoming successful sales professional. How many times a day do you have limiting beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are the stories we tell ourselves about who we are that hold us back from becoming who we are meant to be. These beliefs limit us from reaching our full potential. They are often subconscious – we don’t even know that we have them until someone points them out to us.
That’s the very definition of limiting beliefs. It's easy to get discouraged and make up stories that limit your own ability. The good news is you can change your internal narrative. In only a few minutes.
If you've ever said, "they ghosted me, we must be too expensive, maybe they don't like me" then you probably have some limiting beliefs that may cause you to miss your sales goals!
Every time you have a thought like, "no one wants to work, these kids today are lazy, or I just can't find any good employees", those thoughts or beliefs get reinforced. That kind of reinforcement might be limiting your ability to find any of the good people who are just waiting to join your team!
