Vivian has been a member of the TrainerTainment team since 2016. Her graphics expertise makes us look good! Viv is also a wonderful coach and trainer. Her coaching strength lies in the fact that she is completely client-centered. When working with a sales team, for instance, she’s the kind of coach that jumps in and helps research leads in a specific community. She’s kind and always inspires others in a very positive way. I know you’ll see what I mean as you walk through her blog and learn what she believes makes a good manager. – Beth Standlee

I am predicting all articles from now on will commence with “pre-Covid.” The world has changed and the way we will do business will change. What won’t change is TrainerTainment’s desire to help, motivate, inspire, teach, cheer on, and train others.

Last year, pre-Covid, I witnessed a team that was down, come back from a place where they lacked the motivation needed, to a big celebration when they hit their goals. It was truly inspiring.
How did they do it? Motivation. They motivated each other. When I asked what motivated them the most, the best response I received was, “I don’t like being told it can’t be done.” They did it for the satisfaction of defying the odds. They did it because they did not want to let each other down. It was great to be on the sideline telling them, “You can do it.” That’s what we do at TrainerTainment. We can encourage, support, train, & coach others. The joy of watching them succeed is…magnificent!

Increase in Productivity

Motivated employees lead to increased productivity and allow a company to achieve higher levels of output. Simply said, a motivated employee increases productivity. Employees strive to reach their goals, which benefits both them and the organization, but ultimately that motivation is internal. This internal drive is why we must stay connected with our teams and support them even in times of uncertainty.

External or Internal

Want to increase motivation in your organization? Ask your team what motivates them. External motivation often shows up in the form of a reward. It can be a bonus, gift card, fun outing, or other external rewards. Internal motivation is driven by psychological needs. For some, it’s being competitive. For others, it’s the satisfaction of making a difference. Ultimately, the inspiration and actual motivation take place within each team member. Here are four ways to help your team self-motivate.

  1. Connect with your team and their core values.
  2. Provide clarity on expectations and utilize their strengths.
  3. Offer support and help them self-manage.
  4. Communicate often.

Happy Team

Motivation is contagious! Engaged employees are usually happier and encourage others to follow their lead. When the team is invested in success, they are more likely to help others achieve their goals by encouraging them to do the same.

When we all get back to business and hire or rehire team members, don’t forget to make motivation a priority. We are all going to need real leaders to motivate the team. There will be change, and I hope each business owner looks deeply into what changes they want or need to make. This is the perfect time to start thinking about what is to come. How will you motivate your team?
