Thank You Zig Ziglar

by | Sales

We are very excited about all of our upcoming training events. We have a great line up of webinars that anyone can attend for free, scheduled through the end of the year. Please be sure and catch the schedule. Next week I’m participating in the Bowling Centers’ Association of Florida Annual Meeting, as well as the upcoming Mid–South Convention in October. Pam is speaking at the West Coast Bowling Convention, the East Coast Bowling Centers’ Convention, and the Texas state event is also in October. There are several other places that we will be around the country in the next few weeks so please check our “On the Road” schedule often.

The best upcoming training opportunity is on November 11th/12th in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. We are hosting a Sales Summit regional training event and hope you’ll plan on being there. Click here to download the PDF.

I am very excited to see so many of you in the next several weeks and want to make the most of the training time that we will have while we’re together. There’s so much to learn and it’s exciting to me that even though I’m on the teaching side, I’m pretty sure I learn more than I ever teach when I have the opportunity to be in the field with you.

Recently I experienced a great learning moment by reaching out and just asking for the knowledge. Let me explain… If you know me at all, you know that I’m a big Zig Ziglar fan. He lives here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I’ve lived here for 20 years and it’s always been on my mind to meet him in person.

I’ve seen Zig teach and train in a live environment. I’ve read most every book he’s ever written. I’ve listened to tapes (pre–CD’s for those of you too young to know what a cassette tape is), and I do have his autobiography on CD. When I created TrainerTainment®, I looked at Zig’s company and I said, “I might not be Zig Ziglar – but I could be like him.”

So you can see my obsession. He’s had a great impact on the way I think and sell. As a business owner, I would so like to know what he thought as his company grew. I would really just like to sit and visit with him. But I have to admit, I’m pretty star struck. I feel very emotional when I think about having an opportunity to meet him in person and wonder if I could even utter a single word if I did get to sit with him.

Nonetheless, last week I went to his web site and found a place to reach out and contact someone. I’m sure I sounded like a blubbering stalker but I was honest. I simply stated that I owned a sales training company in the DFW area and had been a fan of Zig Ziglar for 25+ years. I asked if he took appointments or did one–to–one client visits> I am/was willing to pay whatever to have a few minutes of his time.

Much to my surprise I got an answer the same day that I sent the note. Mr. Ziglar does not see people in a one–to–one environment nowadays, but he does do a local get together on Monday mornings when he is in town. The group size is from 6 to 26 or so; and I am invited to attend! I’m going – the first chance is September 27th. I really hope I get to interact with him and that I won’t be too shy to speak. Mostly I want to shake his hand and thank him for all he’s done. My world is better because of him and I want to tell him. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. I bet we could all say that about things we finally learn or do.
