What Do You Do When You Feel Stuck?

by | Motivation, Tuesday Tip

What do you do when you feel stuck? Whatever the situation, feeling stuck can prevent you from doing the things you need to get done or the things you love. We all feel stuck at one time or another. We may lose track of time when we don’t feel good about ourselves, but we always have a choice to change things. So what do you do? Here are some random ideas on what to do when you feel stuck. After you’re done reading, you’ll want to watch our very own Kim Wheeler, being real with you about what she does, when she’s feeling stuck.

If you feel stuck in your thoughts…

Sometimes that can indicate you are ready for a change – growth can be painful sometimes, but staying stuck is more painful.

If you are stuck in your skills…

Take an opportunity to learn something new. Add to your skill set. Do everything to grow – learn – and expand your mind. Take a class, read a book, listen to webinars and podcasts, attend a conference. Invest the time in yourself and look for opportunities.

If you are stuck in your actions…

Procrastination and laziness just don’t work. Neither does stress. They don’t help move you to the next thing. Get up, move around, dance, stretch, change your chair, move your desk. Then start. Pick something, anything that will get you going. The simple task of doing one thing leads to progress.

If you are stuck making excuses…

If you’re good at making excuses it’s hard to excel at making anything else. Self-awareness and being conscious of the fact that you are making excuses is the first step! This is a hard habit to break, but it’s key to getting unstuck. Taking responsibility for your actions or in-actions. No more excuses, you are capable of so much more!

If you’re stuck in the past…

It’s hard to move forward when you’re stuck in the past. When you live your life worried about yesterday, or how you could have changed things, you don’t change. Live in the present. Staying stuck in the past will prohibit you from change. Yesterday’s mistakes are today’s opportunity! You got this!
