Dody,

I really appreciate your congrats! I love your first time Christmas adventure. I suspect that anytime you are with anyone you make it feel like family. Those new people are going to have the best Christmas ever because you'll be in it!

Hi Beth,

I read your blog about your committment to the half marathon and all I can say is CONGRATULATIONs. My "first" will be spending Christmas away from my family. I have never done that before but Jery has spent the last 10 Christmases with me and my family and this year we are going to be in Texas with his family and grand kids. Not sure how I feel about it but my sons think it's about time we did that so I know it will be a great time and besides the weather is sure to be a whole heck of a lot better than Nebraska in December. I guess that is my challenge to end 2010. Talk with you Tuesday and have a great Labor Day.

Brad,

I'm so glad to see your note. I do think that it's easy to get wrapped up in the "rules" of the party that we forget that we are planning for that big day. Connect, Qualify, and then Close the deal. When you review the details you can go over all the things that help make that party a success which ususally includes rules like "please leave the silly string at home." It's best to arrive 10 minutes early (but if you come earlier we may need to have a minute to finish setting up) etc. Hope this helps and feel free to email me directly at beth@trainertainment.net

Brad,
When someone calls to inquire about a party are you telling them all the rules upfront? I think its best to tell them the fun details of their party and sell them on it first. We have a party agreement typed out that we go over with the party parent once they have booked their party. This has all of our rules. They initial next to each one that they ave read and understand. Then if it is an issue the day of their party we just take the agreement that they signed next to each rule and point out that they were aware. I do not know if that helped at all.

I wish someone could tell me how you get the birthday party mom to listen to what is told them over the phone. I think using the birthday childs name is a excellent idea that I will use in the future. To get back to my first point,I think I lay out so many rules for the party, that im either ignored or they dont book the party, any suggestions.

Man Dave, that sounds bad. How can you get that fixed. In my opinion that's a web or software person trying to manage the logic of programming rather than paying attention to common sense that really makes the world go round. You are so right about the customer going someone else to bowl. They are probably so frustrated that they won't consider coming to the base location at all when it would be the easier, smarter thing to do.

Beth,

I will add another pet peeve of mine as it relates to military websites. They are organized in how we are organized not how the customer views the organization. If a customer wants to know where the bowling center is, they don't want to know that they have to go to an internal name for the department that it is located under, click on there, and then go to the bowling center website. If they can't find the webpage, they will bowl elsewhere.
